Is there a range of “Functionality” for Human Beings — a range of mental functionality; a range of emotional functionality; a range of behavioral functionality — a range from just barely functional (a little above zero functional) to mid-range functional to highly or optimally functional?
And is there a range of “Dysfunctional” for us human beings — from just barely “dysfunctional” (a little below zero in functionality) to mid-range dysfunctional to seriously dysfunctional?
All our “Functionality Titles” are based on the premise that there are common basic principles of “optimal functionality” and “dysfunctionality” that apply to all human beings and in most situations and that these basic principles are (or can be) substantiated with credible scientific research.
We intend and strive to use the terms “functional” and “dysfunctional” in value-neutral ways — “dysfunctional” is not synonymous with “bad” nor is “functional” or “optimally functional” synonymous with “good” or moral or even “better than.” Our interest, focus, and exploration on “functional” vs. “dysfunctional” is more in line with “skilled” versus “unskilled.”
